Chowder, rest in peace

We had to put our 15 year old kitty down today. He’s been sick for 2 years with hyperthyroidism. About 2 months ago we stopped the meds that he was taking because he had a terrible reaction to them. The last couple of days we knew it was the end. I’m still talking to him and periodically I think I see him. He was a great cat…a real sweetheart. You can tell how skinny he was in these photos that I took this morning. You can see that he didn’t feel well. He spent the last few days sleeping on this quilt that I made about 10 years ago. It was his favorite spot.

The crow is done

Making the crow was a lot more complicated and difficult than I thought it would be. In addition to the sewing and stuffing I had to cover and paint wire for the legs and talons and carve and paint a stick for the beak. I had to add nickels to the tail to get it to balance. At least it’s now done. Here’s a link to the pattern.

Here’s some photos.

I got to be image of the week

I’ve been taking an AI image class with Ricky Tim’s and each week he picks his favorite image. The theme was inanimate faces. I made an image of a wrinkled face that was imbedded in an old creepy tree with the full moon in the background.

Here’s my image.

My image did not get many comments from the students in the class so I was surprised that I got image of the week. This is the only comment from a student.

“This image is interesting and captivating. I like the full moon as it drew my eyes into the center where I can see the face and the tree.”

This is a good image for Earth Day. It shows our connection to nature and the universe! Hahaha….that’s reading a lot into it for sure!

Quilt news

I’ve sold a quilt and will be donating one to a raffle for a local art museum.

This is the one that is sold. It is called “Orange sky at night.”

After I renewed my membership for a local art museum I sent them an email to see if I could exhibit my work. This year is booked, but I would be on the potential list for 2025. Then they asked if I could donate a quilt for their raffle this summer. They picked this one. It is called “Under a turquoise sky.”

The raffle is not until June or July so I think I might do a little hand stitching of grasses on it. This was an improvised landscape quilt taken in a class. I’m thinking that maybe donating a quilt will help me get a show at the museum next year.

I’m still working on the crow. Boy is it complicated.
